Overdue fine policies determine how much a patron should be fined for overdue items and for how long. When creating a new policy the following options are available:
- Overdue fine policy name: A clear name identifying the policy's function and target audience (e.g., 25-cents-daily).
- Description: An optional free-text description of the policy.
Overdue fines are billed when an item is returned
- Overdue fine/Per: Sets the amount the patron is fined and at what intervals
- Count closed days/hours/minutes: Notes if days when the library is closed should accrue fines
- Maximum overdue fine: Set a maximum fine for this loan rule, not the patron overall
- Forgive overdue fine if item renewed: Sets if a fine is forgiven when an item is renewed
- Overdue recall fine/Per: Sets the amount a patron is fined for an overdue recall and at what intervals
- Ignore grace periods for recalls: Sets if the grace period for recalls should be used or not when calculating fines.
- Maximum recall overdue fine: Sets the maximum overdue fine
Reminder fees are generated when an item is overdue
- Create on closed days: Sets if a fee is generated on days the library is closed
- Ignore grace periods for recalls: Sets if the grace period for recalls should be used or not when calculating fines.
- Ignore grace periods for holds: Sets if the grace period for holds should be used or not when calculating fines.
- Allow renewal of items with reminder fee(s): Sets if an item can be renewed which has already accrued fees
- Clear patron block when paid: Automatically clears a block if the fine is paid
Selecting “Add reminder fee” displays the following:
- Sequence: Can be one or more cycles of fees
- Interval: How many fees in total should be generated for this sequence
- Frequency: How often the fees are generated
- After: Hardcoded to generate after overdue
- Fee: The amount for each fee
- Notice method: Whether to print or e-mail notices. “Printing” will display in the Users search results pane nightly, from where it can be printed.
- Notice template: The notice template to use. (Should be a fee/fine category).
- Block template: Currently not used
